Teresa Castillo expecting in real and reel life

Everything's coming up baby for actress Teresa Castillo. The General Hospital star is pregnant in real life, and her Port Charles alter ego, Sabrina, is also expecting a little bundle of joy.

The secret is out: she's pregnant. But it's not just fictional nurse Sabrina Santiago. Actress Teresa Castillo (Sabrina Santiago) is pregnant in real life.

"It feels wonderful. This is the most joyous time of my life," the mom-to-be told People. "It feels great to finally be able to share it with the world."

This will be the first child for Castillo and her husband of five years, Shane Aaron -- and parenthood has already thrown the couple some surprises.

"Shane and I were actually surprised it was a girl!" Castillo shared with Soaps In Depth. "We were certain it was a boy. But we're both completely thrilled. I'm one of three girls and I have two nieces, no boys. So our families weren't surprised at all. Everyone is very excited." Certain her husband will be protective of his baby girl, Castillo adds with a laugh, "Shane is now in the market for a shotgun."

General Hospital fans learned that Castillo's on-screen alter ego is also pregnant, and the actress says it is "awesome that GH wrote in Sabrina's pregnancy."

Castillo, who joined GH in September 2012, is due May 24, 2014.
