General Hospital is set to honor longtime cast member Susan Brown (ex-Gail Baldwin), who passed away earlier this year.

Grab some tissues and have them handy, because General Hospital has what may prove to be a very emotional episode in the works.

Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin) took to Twitter to share that the ABC soap opera has shot a tribute episode in honor of Susan Brown (ex-Gail Baldwin), who passed away after a battle with Alzheimer's earlier this year.

"A tribute show to Susan shot in the can airing soon," he wrote.

Brown spent several decades as General Hospital's Dr. Gail Adamson Baldwin, playing the role from 1977 to 1985 followed by on-again, off-again appearances on both GH and its spinoff Port Charles. Her final episode took place in 2004, when both she and Peter Hansen (ex-Lee Baldwin) appeared for a tribute story honoring the late Anna Lee (ex-Lila Quartermaine).

This will be the second time Shriner has had to deal with the death of an on-screen parent: Hansen passed away in 2017, and GH honored him with a special episode that showed Shriner's Scott struggling with the loss of his father.

In addition to Brown's work on GH, the Daytime Emmy-winning actress had a long history in soap operas, beginning as a temporary replacement for the characters of Nancy Pollock Karr on The Edge of Night and Liz Fraser Allen on From These Roots. She's also played As the World Turns' Adelaide Fitzgibbon, The Young Marrieds' Ann Reynolds, Bright Promise's Martha Ferguson, Santa Barbara's Dorothy Lane, and The Young and the Restless' Fran Whitaker.

At this time, it's unclear who else took part in the special show honoring Brown. Fans are hoping to see Leslie Charleson (Monica Quartermaine) play a big part, as Gail was a close friend of Monica's. Many are also hoping Scott's daughter, Serena (Carly Schroeder), will make a return to Port Charles for the occasion honoring her grandmother.
