Wade, the station owner, was furious over Tad hosting the Cutting Edge. At a luncheon meeting with Tad and Liza, Wade made it clear that he wanted Erica back---now. Jason saw Michael with his shirt off and asked Dixie if she was hitting the books or the skins. Dix and Mike cleared up the mess by telling Jason all about the spilled milkshake on Michael's shirt. Jason, feeling like an ass, changed topics and asked Dixie if she saw her hubby host the Cutting Edge. When Dixie said no, Jason was kind enough to drop off a videotape of the show. You could see Dixie was more than a little uncomfortable watching the show. Noah told Taylor that it was time for her to get out of the apartment. Vivienne chimed in that Taylor should take time off at some European salon somewhere. Taylor agreed to leaving the apartment, but said a definite no-no to the trip abroad. She peered intently into Tempo's article on Julia and said that Julia would not "win." Louie Greco, still in his prison cell, concurred. He mumbled that time was almost up for Julia. Dimitri asked Erica why she was stopping her visits to Dr. Kinder so abruptly. Erica implied that a megastar of her calibre can do what ever she wants. Dimmie wasn't satisfied with his wife's reply, so he darted off to get the answer straight from the horse's mouth. Erica, getting weak and starting to tremble, sat Bianca down and said the two of them were going to have a Girls' Night without "icky" boys. The two embraced, but Erica's withdrawal showed clearly in her eyes.

On the eve of Alec's hearing, Hayley and Cecily were frantically working on Enchantment matters at the Valley Inn when Mr. McIntyre walked in with a woman on his arm. By this time, Charlie had joined his lady friends at their table. Alec strutted over to rub his release from jail in Hayley's face. Mateo came from behind and grabbed Alec, telling him to leave to Hayley alone. In what has become tradition, Alec seized the opportunity to degrade Matt and his job. Bianca found one of Erica's pills under the sofa and asked her mom if she should throw it away. Erica weighed her options back and forth before telling Bianca to flush the "vitamin." Dimitri returned from his meeting with Dr. Kinder and told Erica he knew all about her leaving the good doctor. Jonathan said that Erica, the high flying celebrity that she is, doesn't want to bother her world businessman husband with her aches and pains. Dimmie headed off to bed and Erica said she'd join him shortly, only she never got there. The Erica And Her Pills storyline has been getting a lot of flack from viewers of late, but for once the story was decent. Erica stayed up all night goung throuigh withdrawal. Some new filming techniques and music made the scenes better than those of the past. Some time after midnight, Myrtle called Erica claiming that she was woken from a deep sleep by a notion that Erica was in trouble. Erica denied Myrt's feelings and later fell asleep on the sofa. In the morning, Erica called Gloria to see if Dr. Kinder was in, when Glo said he wasn't, Erica headed off to the office presumably to break into the pill stash. Tom (who made a return for Alec's trial and still lives in Pine Valley) told Hayley that she should go to AA meetings and not start any new relationships because they wouldn't be built on a solid foundation. Alec waltzed into the courtroom and made comments about Hayley being loose like her mother and never being able to turn him down in bed. Hayley ran out of the courtroom and into a side room where Mateo was sitting by himself.

Mateo shielded Hayley from a tabloid reporter while Cecily whispered in Hayley's ear that she should consider going after Mateo. In the courtroom, Jamal told Alec that he no longer considers him a father. When the trial started, the evidence began mounting up against Alec. Mateo testified that he saw Alec trying to kill Arlene. Arlene wrote a deposition saying that she wishes she could be in Pine Valley to testify, but she is busy getting her life back together in a rehabilitation center. In her sworn statement, she indicated that she knew Alec was stealing money from her daughter and when she confronted Alec, he turned evil. Hayley also took the stand to which the defense tried to rip her apart. Hayley stood tall, but eventually suffered a minor breakdown while still on the stand. A frenzied Myrtle confided in Joe that something just ain't right with Erica. Myrtle said that "Mona's little girl" is bossy, snappy, and just plain nasty. Joe chalked it up to Erica's heavy workload. If Erica's ears were burning, she didn't show it. She was occupied with trying to steal painkillers from Dr. Kinder's office. Before she could get out, Gloria walked in. Erica tried to relate to Gloria that Dr. Kinder let her take pills all the time, Gloria didn't buy it and took the pills from Erica. Miss Kane made one final warning: tell Dr. Kinder that she was there and she'd be sorry. But, Glo blabbed anyway. Dr. Kinder admitted to Gloria that Erica is on the verge of addiction to her medication. Erica wasn't done trying to get her pills. She stopped by Joe's to get medicine for her talk show---"to recreate her back injury." Joe wasn't about to believe that Erica needed strong painkillers as props. He told her that she should seek help for her addiction, but Erica shrugged him off using her "I'm NOT an addict" lie. Dr. Kinder muttered to himself that he should not have hired Gloria because she is too concerned about her patients and not willing to go along with everything he says and does. Erica made one final attempt to get medicine. She called up Olga and admitted that she needed pills.

Pine Valley High is set to hold their annual career night for students and their family. When Scott was asked if he and Stuart were going to go, Scott said that Stuart was going to be at a gallery opening and couldn't make it. Laura knew better. Scott was too embarrassed by his dad to ask him to go. Myrtle agreed to go with Laura, but when one of Myrt's friends, Bea, fell off a step ladder and hurt her leg, she told Laura that she couldn't go. Dixie confronted Liza at the studio. Dix was furious that Liza put Tad on the spot with the infidelity show. Liza said she couldn't understand why Dixie was so upset. After all, she said with a smile, it's only televison, not real life. Erica, still looking for medication, became enraged when Olga turned down her request for help. So Erica ended back up at the television studio looking for someone to help her out. Her prayers seemed to be answered by the headline of the Pine Valley Bulletin: Front Street Leads Again in Drug Trade. Kelsey sought out Anita to ask her for money so she could leave Pine Valley. Anita offered her the three bucks she had in her wallet, but then added that her sister might be able to help out. Anita and Kelsey tracked down Edmund and Maria having lunch at the Valley Inn. Anita sang the praises of her sister and brother and law and when Eddie and Maria left the table, Anita dropped the real reason she brought Kelsey with her: Edmund and Maria can't have a baby of their own and are looking for a baby to adopt. Kelsey doesn't want her baby, so why not give it to Edmund and Maria?
